School counselors can meet with students on a variety of topics for school-based counseling. These topics include: 

• Friendship/ bullying

• Conflict resolution

• Feeling expression and regulation

• Anxiety

• Grief/ loss

• Social skills

• Goal setting

• Academic performance

Please note that when meeting with the school counselor, discussions are confidential unless the student:

• Reports they have plans to hurt themselves or someone else

• Reports that someone is hurting them

• Gives permission for the school counselor to share information

There may be times where the school counselor will speak to the parents or guardians about referrals for mental health counseling.
