Behavioral and Emotional Wellness Screenings

Behavioral and Emotional Wellness Screenings

Piqua City Schools is committed to the comprehensive growth of all students and fostering the development of the whole child. For the second year, Piqua City Schools is working with Samaritan Behavioral Health to make behavioral and emotional wellness screenings available to all students on a free and voluntary basis.  These screenings will focus on your child's daily behaviors, emotions, and social interactions and will help identify children who may be suffering from depression and anxiety.  All students, even those students who opted out last year, will be eligible for the screening process unless families decide to individually opt their children out of this service.  We understand there will be some students and families in need of additional support, so we hope that many families will take advantage of this confidential service.

We ask that you notify the following contacts by October 20, 2023, if you choose to exclude your child(ren) from the screening process.
Springcreek Primary School - Kelsey Smith:  937-789-8783  or [email protected]
Washington Primary School - Kelsey Smith:  937-789-8783 or [email protected]
Piqua Central Intermediate School - Jennifer Decker:  937-271-4325 or [email protected]
Piqua Junior High School - Kelsey Smith:  937-789-8783 or [email protected]
Piqua High School - Andera King:  937-654-5971 or [email protected]

If you choose to have your child screened and further services are suggested, a Samaritan Health Therapist will follow up with parents and caregivers of individual students.  All students will be included in the screening process unless parents, guardians, and caregivers elect to individually opt their child out of this service, and we ask that you do so by using the contacts above.

If you have additional questions, we ask that you please read the question/answer document that is found below.
