Biographical Information:
Educational Background:
I am a graduate of the class of “89” at Miami East High School. I attended Edison State for 1 year. I moved my credits to Urbana University to finish a major in Elementary Education. I then earned a Master’s of Science Degree in Teacher Leadership from Wright State University. Since then I have taken additional credit hours through Ohio State and University of Cincinnati.
Teaching Experience:
I have been on staff as a Teacher with Piqua City Schools for 18 years. My first three years I was the Unified Arts Teacher at High Street Primary. Then I taught 2nd grade for 8 years, and after that I taught 3rd grade for six years. This year I am the Gifted & Talented Teacher based at Springcreek Elementary.
Personal Background:
My husband and I will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary this June! We co-own and operate a 3rd generation farm outside of Fletcher. We also raise Boer Goats to sell to 4-H kids and as a marketable animal. We are members of Greene Street Methodist Church. We have two adult daughters who live in Piqua and one beautiful granddaughter who is 2 J It is such a wonderful thing to be a grand-parent!
Special Recognitions:
I was in the first group of PCS teachers to be recognized by the State of Ohio as a Master Teacher. Since then I have been a part of a Physics Program with Ohio State University where I’ve earned 120 hours of time learning about how to implement this into my classroom(s). Last, I’ve earned an Endorsement in Teaching Gifted and Talented kids from the University of Cincinnati.
