Changes to Lunch Distribution (April 1, 2020)

Hello Parents,

We are working on a process to improve our food distribution to ensure students are getting much-needed food to sustain them throughout the week.  Please read these important directions so you can plan accordingly for next Monday’s food distribution. Thank you!!

First, This past week we had some traffic problems near PCIS.  To help with this, we will need more people to pick up food at PHS.  Therefore, we will be distributing half of the food from PCIS and half of the food from PHS until we run out at each building.  As a reminder please enter Indian Trail for PHS and Camp Street for PCIS.  We appreciate the Piqua Police for assisting us with traffic backlogs that may occur around PCIS so we can keep traffic patterns moving for all citizens.

Second, we have identified that people are requesting more food than they should for their household.  This is not fair to others who have a need for food as well.  The funding provided for these meals is for students ages 1-18.  Therefore, we need to make sure that students in need get food so they have essentials to make it through this time at home.  To help with this, we will be sending a postcard to each student with his/her name, a bar code, and an administrative signature.  The postcard must be presented for food to be distributed.  If there is a child aged 1-5 in the household that lives in Piqua but is not yet enrolled in our school system, we can provide food for that child if they are present in the car when food is picked up.  These measures are necessary to ensure that we are getting food to all children in need during this time.

Food ticket postcards are already in the mail to each student at the address we have on file.  If you plan to pick up food at any one of our Monday distributions during the month of April, please keep your card and present it at PHS or PCIS to receive the proper number of lunches for the children in your household.  Food will not be distributed without the proper postcard for each child.  Any questions regarding this process may be directed to [email protected] or by calling 937-773-4321.  As a reminder, we do not monitor social media for questions so please do not post questions regarding this process on social media platforms as we cannot ensure that you will get the correct answers you are seeking.  Thank you for your assistance with this important work!
