Teacher of the year

Diane Fox, Science Teacher at Piqua Junior High School, has been named the 2016-2017 Piqua City School District Teacher of the Year! Diane was presented the title at: 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 by Superintendent Rick Hanes, Piqua City School District Board President Frank Patrizio and 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year Pam George.

Diane has been employed by the Piqua City School District since 1995. Nominated by her peers, fellow staff members had the following comments:

“Diane Fox is a total team player for the Piqua City School District. In the building, she not only teaches 8th grade science, but helps students create the daily news. She is a member of the collaborative leadership team, heads the TBT sessions for the science department, and volunteers her time to help with Science Olympiad events. When staff members have trouble in the area of technology, they go to Diane for help. Outside of the building, she is a member of the District LPDC team, leader for TESA, has been a RESA mentor for the past four years, proctor for the ACT, and helps create and run events for the Regional Science Olympiad.”

“Diane is one of the first, if not THE first one to school every morning. She is constantly updating her lessons to reach all of her students and introduces them to many forms of technology. Students and parents are able to use Edmodo to see what took place in the class as well as study reviews for tests. Kahoot It is another tool she uses to help her students study and review material. Diane has been instrumental in the purchasing of Chromebooks in this building through grant writing. This has enabled the eighth grade science classes to be “Classrooms in the Cloud.”

“Diane’s dedication to Piqua Junior High School and Piqua City School District is immeasurable. I truly believe her dedication to this district should be recognized and what better way than by being named Outstanding Educator for PJHS and Teacher of the Year for Piqua City Schools.”
