Heard it Through the Grapevine

The following questions were repeatedly asked to the district's Heard it Through the Grapevine.  Answers to each question are provided by the appropriate district department.  Please contact the Superintendents office, 937.773.4321, if you need more information.  Thank you.

Q: Where can I find out which new primary school my child will attend next year?

A: The boundary map for Springcreek Primary and Washington Primary is located on the front page of our website in the District News section and also under the Our Services Tab.  For additional questions please contact us at 937-773-4321.

Q: Why didn't the school district hold an auction for the contents of Washington Intermediate School before it was demolished?

A: We are saving taxpayer dollars!  Based upon our last auction poor results, research with other school districts who had auctions, it was found by allowing the demolition contractor to have salvage rights of all materials left in the building which could not be used by the district, a five percent savings would occur in the demolition bid.  Our district followed the advice of our construction management team and other school districts and placed salvage rights in the bid speculations for demolition.  This decision saved the district dollars and the loss of staff hours to prepare, and costs of an auction which produce minimal profit for the district.

Q:  Why don't the 3 new schools have names on the building? Or a sign like Jr high and high school have?

A:  Thanks for your question!  We currently are awaiting our signage for our new schools.  This was one of the last steps in our building process and the signs needed to be reviewed in accordance with zoning before we could place the order.  We are expecting to have our signage orders complete and in place at the buildings this fall.  8/27/15
